If I’m not your only
If I’m meant for someone else
Then why
Does your heart
Beat inside my chest?
If your hands aren’t for me
If your words aren’t for myself
Then why
Do my eyes
See nobody else?
You make me wanna stand up to the wind
You make me wanna cast off every sin
You make me wanna love again
Breathe again
Like all that I can do is win
You make me tremble with a smile
You make me wanna give to you my child
You make me feel the joy you know
You’re lyrical
You touch my soul
Like the keys of a piano
If you’re not for life
If you’re only for this moment
Then why
Do I
Feel like you’ve always known me?
If I’m not your man
If I’m not the man you love
Then why
Are we
So blessed from up above?
You make me wanna stand up to the wind
You make me wanna cast off every sin
You make me wanna love again
Breathe again
Like all that I can do is win
You make me tremble with a smile
You make me wanna give to you my child
You make me feel the joy you know
You’re lyrical
You touch my soul
Like the keys of a piano
Your lights will shine forever
It’s our time to take the stage
Take a bow and show the world
How good it feels to turn the page
It’s a concert in respect
A symphony of truth
The key to our orchestra
Love’s piano is the root
Like Beethoven in his youth….
You make me wanna stand up to the wind
You make me wanna cast off every sin
You make me wanna love again
Breathe again
Like all that I can do is win
You make me tremble with a smile
You make me wanna give to you my child
You make me feel the joy you know
You’re lyrical
You touch my soul
Like the keys of a piano
Like the keys of a piano
Like the keys of a piano
Piano
Piano
…and I’m never letting go
…and there it is!

Hello FofoFl’or and thank you for reading my poem. Yes ma’am, the Yellow Rose of Texas was in mind when I chose the photograph. I’m intrigued. What does the yellow rose mean to you?

its more of a religious thing! where i would do a 54 days rosary novena and ask for a yellow rose as a sign , when i saw it, i would know my prayers have been understood! and it was always true!

That is awesome! Truly awesome! I love to learn new things. I’m so happy that my poem could bring you joy. And now I know of an even greater importance of the yellow rose. I truly thank you for that.

You are really most welcome and in my humble opinion, blushing is lovely, as it meant the comment touched you in some way, which I find humbling. 🙂

I love piano music…I describe a piano as a percussive stringed instrument!
Beautiful poem.

Thank you. That’s a very apt description, my friend. I think I’ll use that in the near future somewhere. Lol.

I particularly enjoyed the unbolded verses, their softness and especially the format. I didn’t understand the interjections and thought possibly these could be lyrics and was this a song – bridges, chorus etc. (what do I know). either way it was both expressive and full of voice and body.

Hello anitalubesh. Yes, it was originally a song. I’m still unclear how to put it in song format. Heeeeeeellllpppppp!!! Lol. Thank you so much for that. I write tons of songs and I’m so glad you enjoyed it.

I have dabbled myself along my writing and was lucky enough to have my husband write music for them. Again, as to the technicalities I am slightly lost. Google and learn, your talent deserves that much!

You are most welcome, my friend. As a man who has had very little material things to share with the world, it is my honor and my privilege to share what I do have; my experiences, my joy, my pain and myself. It is my pleasure to serve you this way and I hope you continue to be inspired and motivated in your day today. Thank you for reading here, my friend, and be blessed.

I feel that you have just done that. We can’t purport to see as G-d does, perchance, but in His wisdom, He sees what needs to be seen.
